Ms. Újhegyi graduated with an economics degree from the Budapest University of Economic Science (now: Corvinus University of Budapest) in 2001, and in 2005, she received her master degree in sustainable development in London. In 2011, she graduated as a cultural anthropologist at the Eötvös Lóránd University. From 2013, she is the development director of the Hungarian Food Bank Association. In this role, she develops and implements new food rescue projects and as a consultant, she participates in international research and development projects dealing with food waste.
She is founder of the Association of Conscious Consumers (TVE), of which she was the director between 2003 and 2007, then project manager and chief editor of TudatosVásárló.hu until 2014. Since 2008, she works as CSR consultant and independent environmental education expert. She is board member of the Global Action Plan international NGO and member of LEAD International, an international network of sustainability experts.
