As a telecommunications company, it is extremely important for us that infocommunication technologies contribute to the development of society. Public education is an excellent tool in reducing the rate of digital illiteracy and increase moderate, safe Internet use, where the community can be shaped by pedagogues and students.

What´s the solution?

Telenor helps young people with innovative and effective methods during learning, while the educators are supported in the education, thus providing information technological support for the education and skills of children. Together with our partners we provide tablets, internet access, e-learning content, materials for safe internet usage, teacher training, and ongoing technical and professional support for participating teachers and students throughout the duration of the project. The program was launched in May 2015 and run until summer 2016. It is essential for the society, for the competitiveness of the economy and for our company that mobile info communication technologies contribute to social development. Public education is an important area of this, which is supported by our company, not simply through donations, but also through empowerment.

Business connection

Hipersuli is not a for-profit initiative, but as Telenor seeks to support public education through mobile infocommunication technology through its core services and to support social development, it also indirectly pursues business goals. It can be considered a form of social investment. By promoting and developing e-literacy, the security of the Internet and the effective use of telecommunications, we support the macro-level societal goals that also affect our company’s competitiveness. Thus, using digital technology during education can bring business benefits to the company in the long run, although this is not an explicit goal of the project.

Results

The program was launched in 2015, in 15 classes, in 5 schools across the country, involving 31 directly involved teachers and 350 students. Telenor considers the main result of the pilot project running during the 2013-2014 school year, is the promotion of differentiated education for teachers and making learning more exciting for children. In addition, there was an effective cooperation with teachers and parents, moreover it was supported by the government involving professional partners.
