Mi a megoldás?

A Sustainable Living Plan, másnéven az Unilever Fenntarthatósági terve egy törekvés arra, hogy változást érjenek el a vállalaton belül. A vállalat azt vallja, hogy az üzleti növekedés nem mehet az emberek és a bolygó rovására. A terv 2010-ben indult nemzetközi szinten és a fenntartható fejlődésre törekszik tudatos márkáin keresztül. A vállalat felméri a teljes gyártáshoz és fogyasztáshoz köthető vízlábnyomát. Számításaik alapján a hozzájuk kapcsolható 2010-es vízmennyiség 99%-a a termékek fogyasztása közben merült fel. Ezt optimalizálva, a beszállítókkal és farmerekkel együtt dolgozva minimalizálják a felhasznált vizet, miközben a termelési folyamatokba, valamint a termékinnovációs folyamatokba is beépítik ezt a szemléletmódot.

A tervek szerint a termékeik felhasználók általi használathoz kapcsolódó vízhasználatot felére csökkentik 2020-ra, a gyáraik vízfelhasználását pedig a jelentősen magasabb mennyiségek ellenére is a 2008-as szinten, vagy az alatt tartják.

Mi az üzleti kapcsolódás?

A program segítségével csökkentek az üzleti költségek és a felmerülő kockázatok, nem mellesleg nőtt a bizalom mértéke a partnerekkel.

Arra törekszik, hogy a társadalomra gyakorolt pozitív hatást növelje, amellett, hogy a növekedéssel együtt környezeti terhelése nem növekszik. A program egyrészt foglalkozik az egészségügyi körülmények és az életkörülmények javításával, valamint a környezetre gyakorolt negatív hatások csökkentésével. Utóbbi szempontjából kiemelendő a 2030-ra kitűzött cél, hogy az üzleti tevékenység bővítése mellett, a termékek gyártása és használata által keletkezett negatív környezeti hatásokat a felére csökkentse. Ezáltal az Unilever alkalmazkodó-képessége is növekszik, és a hosszútávú működése is biztosított.

Eredmények és hatás

Az Unilever tudja, hogy a program hozzájárul az üzleti növekedéséhez, mivel látják, hogy a fogyasztóik célirányosan választanak márkáik, például a Dove, Hellmann’s vagy akár a Ben & Jerry’s közül. A mosási folyamatok során csökkenteni tudták a fogyasztói vízfelhasználást a termékekkel. A termelés során 44%-os csökkenést értek el a tonnánkénti vízfelhasználásban, valamint már 2010-re elérték a 2%-os vízfelhasználás csökkenést az egy fogyasztóra eső vízmennyiség szempontjából. Mára már olyan termékeket is fejlesztenek, amelyek egyáltalán nem igényelnek vizet, mint például a Love Home, Planet és a Day2 nevű száraz mosóporok, amelyek a normál mosodai használat során fogyasztott víz 0,02%-ával használhatók.
