A McDonald’s üzleti stratégiájának alapja a partnerség, hiszen nem lehetnénk sikeresek beszállítóink és franchise partnereink szoros együttműködése, valamint további kulcsfontosságú, a vállalat tevékenysége által érintett partnerek támogatása nélkül. Fenntarthatósági stratégiánk is eszerint működik. A klímaváltozással kapcsolatos feladatainkat akkor tudjuk hatékonyan menedzselni, ha mérjük, és ha teljességében mérjük a hatásainkat. Ezért használjuk a karbonlábnyom mutatószámot, ami segít azonosítani a kritikus beavatkozási pontokat. A mérés eredményeinek elemzését követően célokat tűzünk ki, melyekhez kapcsolódóan megtervezzük és végrehajtjuk a szükséges intézkedéseket – így biztosítva azt, hogy a felelős és fenntartható ellátási lánc stratégiánk egyik alapeleme legyen.

Mi a megoldás?

A McDonald’s Magyarország felelősségvállalása és a fenntarthatósági stratégiája nem áll meg saját közvetlen kibocsátásainak kontrolljánál és csökkentésénél. A klímaváltozással kapcsolatos üzleti és társadalmi kihívások nem is menedzselhetőek ilyen szűk látókörrel, hiszen a hatásunk csak a beszállítóink, a teljes ellátási lánc, éttermeink működése és a fogyasztóink viselkedése komplexitásában vizsgálható. Ezért is kezdeményezte a McDonald’s Europe 2008-ban a McDonald’s európai étteremláncok karbonlábnyom-mérését. Magyarországon az adatgyűjtés folyamata 2010-ben kezdődött el, majd 2011-ben mutatták be a legelső számításokat, és az adatok kiértékelését. Az értékelések alapján az egyes országokra vonatkozóan célkitűzéseket fogalmaztak meg, pl.: fajlagos villamosenergia-felhasználás csökkentése, üzleti utazások optimalizálása, hűtőközegek cseréje stb.

Az adatgyűjtés, és az eredmények értékelése 2011 óta folyamatosan, minden évben megtörténik. A 2016-os évben a McDonald’s a hatodik alkalommal végezte el ezt a számítást. A mérések kiterjednek a közvetlen és közvetett kibocsátásokra is, a kapott adatokat pedig évről-évre elemzik. Ha egy ország eltér a kitűzött céltól, az okokat és lehetséges megoldásokat az európai központ szakértőivel közösen értékelik. A 3 éves periódusokra meghatározott éves célokat minden ország ügyvezetője elfogadja, a célok megvalósítása melletti elköteleződését aláírásával is megerősíti. A csökkentésre vonatkozó stratégiát az egyes országok, területek önállóan dolgozzák ki, ha szükséges, az európai szakértői team támogatásával. A karbonlábnyom számítás lehetővé teszi, hogy a vállalat a teljes működésének minél nagyobb részére kiterjessze a hatások vizsgálatát, az adatok minősége azonban kritikus tényező a kalkuláció szempontjából. Az adatgyűjtés és az adatok validálása ezért az egyik legfontosabb terület, amelyet folyamatosan fejlesztünk. A karbonlábnyom mérés és elemzés alátámasztja és segíti a vállalat azon törekvéseit és célkitűzéseit, hogy alapanyagait felelős és fenntartható gazdálkodásokból szerezze be.

Mi az üzleti kapcsolódás?

A karbonlábnyom-számítás nem csak a klímavédelmet és a meghatározott területek kibocsátáscsökkentését segíti elő, hanem gazdasági előnyöket és megtakarításokat (szállításoptimalizálás, energetikai korszerűsítések stb.) is jelent a cég számára.

A felelősségvállalás növelésének eredményeként a vállalat hatékonysága a fogyasztói támogatottsággal együtt növekszik: a számítás által meghatározott, kiemelt területeken végzett beavatkozásoknak köszönhetően a McDonald’s a stratégiájába építve felkészül a jövő környezetvédelmi, élelmezési és energetikai kihívásaira, miközben komoly reputációs értéket is teremt, ami versenyelőnyt jelent a konkurens vállalatokkal szemben.

Eredmények és hatás

A karbonlábnyom-mérés hozzájárul a legnagyobb behatást jelentő területek/szektorok meghatározásához, ezáltal elősegítve a célok kitűzését, a beavatkozási területek meghatározását, és a cselekvési tervek végrehajtását. A karbonlábnyom-mérés eredményeként a McDonald’s meg tudta határozni az étteremhálózat környezetet leginkább terhelő területeit, pl.: szállítás, épület hűtés-fűtés, hűtőközegek használata, villamos-energia használat, stb. Az azonosított releváns területekre a vállalat stratégiákat dolgozott ki, mint pl.: a szállításoptimalizálás. Ennek során növeltük a kamionok kihasználtságát, melynek eredményeképp 2011-re a kihasználtság 90 % feletti értéket ért el, a megtett km-ek száma pedig 24 %-kal csökkent.
