Mi a megoldás?

Az Unilever a vízlábnyoma számításával felméri annak a víznek a mennyiségét, amelyet a termékek gyártása során használ fel. Ezenfelül hozzáadja a zuhanyozás, a fürdés, a tisztítás, valamint a főzés során termékeikkel a fogyasztó által felhasznált vizet is. A vízlábnyomuk mérését pontosan és átláthatóan végzik el, ezáltal a stratégiájuk megfelelő alkalmazásával ambiciózus célokat tudnak kitűzni és elérni a fenntartható gazdálkodás elérésének érdekében.

A vízlábnyom mérése lehetővé teszi számukra, hogy lássák, mely termékeik igénylik a legtöbb vizet. A termékinnovációkkal a fogyasztókat is segíthetik vízlábnyomuk csökkentésében, mint például az úgynevezett SmartFoam készítmény bevezetésével is tették. Különös figyelmet fordítanak a vízhiányos területeken használt termékek innovációjára. Figyelembe veszik azt, hogy az éghajlatváltozás hogyan befolyásolhatja a tiszta víz rendelkezésre állását és milyen kockázatok kapcsolhatóak a fogyasztók, a beszállítók és a működésük számára.

Mi az üzleti kapcsolódás?

Alapvetően az üzleti tevékenységük erősen függ a víztől. A vízhasználat csökkentése nem csak a fenntarthatóságot és a környezetvédelmet szolgálja, hanem üzletileg is számottevő tényező, hiszen pénzbeli megtakarításokat is lehetővé tesz. A növények termesztésétől kezdve a gyárak működtetéséig mindenhol elengedhetetlen a víz szerepe. A termékéletciklus későbbi szakaszait tekintve a fogyasztóik a felhasználással felmerülő tevékenységek során is igénylik a vizet, mint a főzés vagy mosás. Napjainkban már egyre több régiót fenyeget a vízhiány, mi több, egyre gyakoribbak az olyan közösségek, ahol nem áll rendelkezésre megfelelő minőségű víz. A klímaváltozás rontja a helyzetet, hiszen szárazsággal és kiszámíthatatlan időjárási viszonyokkal kell számolnunk. Ezért is fontos számukra, hogy megfelelően fel tudják mérni a közvetlenül náluk, valamint közvetetten a fogyasztónál felhasznált víz mennyiségét. Ezzel a fejlődés mértékét is figyelni tudják a 2020-as célhoz eléréséhez, amikorra is vízfelhasználásuk felére csökkentését tervezik.

Eredmények és hatás

A vállalat 2010 óta méri a hozzá kapcsolható vízlábnyomot. Az Unilever célja, hogy 2020-ra a termékek felhasználóinak vízhasználatát felére csökkentse. A kitűzött cél elérését nehezíti, hogy portfoliójuk több terméke is magasan átlagfeletti vízigénnyel rendelkezik, valamint a lábnyomuk 99%-a felhasználás során keletkezik.

Az eddigi eredmények:

Jelentősen csökkentették a gyártás során felhasznált vizet, ezzel két évvel korábban elérve a célkitűzésüket.
A kiszivattyúzott víz mennyisége tonnánként 44%-kal csökkent a 2008-as évet alapul véve.
A SmartFoam technológiának köszönhetően a Sunlight 2-in-1 mosópor és a Rin mosószer a szükséges víz felét használja fel, így a mosási folyamat a fogyasztók számára könnyebb és gyorsabb lehet a vízhiányos régiókban is.
